Contrada Marettima is Guido Zampaglione’s newest project, located in the heart of Cilento, about 80 kilometers south of Naples, along the Tyrrhenian coast just below the Amalfi Coast. Although the vineyards lie close to sea level, the area enjoys a unique microclimate that makes it one of the latest harvest zones in the region. The proximity to the sea, combined with the local conditions, gives the wines a distinctive Mediterranean character.

Made from 100% Fiano, the wine undergoes a 15-day skin maceration with spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. Despite the extended maceration, the remarkable character of Fiano allows the wine to retain freshness and elegance without developing the more extreme characteristics often associated with orange wines. Instead, the wine finds its balance through a vibrant saline minerality and a delicate tannic texture, rather than pronounced acidity.

Vinification and aging take place entirely in stainless steel, preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The approach in the cellar is deliberately minimalist: no corrections are made, only a few bâtonnages are carried out during aging, the wine is racked once before bottling, gently filtered, and receives only a minimal addition of sulfur at bottling.

Bottled in July 2025, with a production of approximately 10,000 bottles, Contrada Marettima is a refined and authentic expression of coastal Fiano—combining texture, drinkability, and the unmistakable imprint of the Cilento landscape.
